A Journey Of Rich Tradition.

Trip to Rahon village via khatkar kalan.

It was very exciting to visit a rural place, As it was my first visit to any rural area in north india. Before starting any trip it is very important to decide the mode of transport, We decided to travel by car, Finally the time had came to begin our journey. Around 7:00 a.m we left for khatkar kalan village, It is mainly known for the museum built on the 50th death anniversary of Bhagat Singh.
It hardly took 1 hour to reach the museum.

The village Khatkar Kalan is located approx 40 km from Jalandhar on Nawanshahar-Banga road. The museum is located just on the side of main road. Several photos and few personal things are displayed in musuem. The doors are locked from outside and we can see the inside view from the window glass.

About Bhagat Singh

We cannot forget Bhagat Singh who sacrificed his life for us. He was also one of the famous freedom fighter and an inspirational personality in the Indian freedom struggle. He showed a new path towards the national movement against the British rule to the people.

Bhagat Singh was born on 28 September 1907 at Lyallpur district (which is now in Pakistan) to a patriotic father,Kishan Singh who was in jail even at the time of his birth. His uncle , Sardar Ajit Singh was great freedom fighter who established Indian patriot's Association.

As he was brought and raised up with freedom fighter's, Thus the same reflected in his blood to fight for India. He was associated with many revolutionary organizations and played an important key role in the Indian Nationalist Movement. Because of his huge contribution towards freedom the supporters and the followers accorded him the title of  " Shaheed Bhagat Singh " in which "Shaheed" means "Martyr" after he sacrificed his life for nation. He also became the prominent leader of the "Hindustan Social Republican Association" in the year 1928.

Rahon village

Visited to one of our friend's farmhouse in rahon :

      Entering Rahon Village

Me along with my friend's had visited to Shubham Nayyar's Farmhouse to know the lifestyle, tradition's, and culture's followed by rural people. It was a wonderful experience meeting and talking with people their. As we reached Rahon they greeted us like a family and served us a welcome drink "Lassi" which is popularly known in Punjab. After that he took us to the field and provided us a lot of detail's and information about Rahon village. As rural area are also known for the agriculture which contribute  a lot to Indian economy. It is also known as a historical place as it has proper 1 kund in Rahon out of two and half and there are more than 150 temples, Gurudwara Baba Bhai Sikh Ji, Suraj Kund, Sati Mata Bhagwan Devi Mandir are few of them, finally we gained a lot of knowledge and experience and we also enjoyed a lot.

Experience :

First of all i would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Madhumita Mukherjee for giving us a opportunity based on the real time live project on rural tourism, However it was a part of assignment but what we learned and experienced through this project was very helpful. As we talk about Khatkar Kalan village and  Rahon both of the place has great history and rich in tradition's. If we talk about Khatkar kalan village where Ancestral house of Bhagat Singh is located , the reason behind the unpopularity is the unawareness of the place. People who come,s to visit the museum but they don't go till the ancestral house only because it is little far inside from main road. we can Promote this by the help of State Government Tourism Department should focus on this, We are so lucky that we have such a historical place but its sad to know that still so many people don't know about it.
However if we talk abou Rahon it was a great experience, we came across with farming and gained lots of information and detail's more-ever we had lots of fun and made memory that will never fade away.
